We are a men’s chorus who love to sing a cappella in the barbershop style. The Boise Chordsmen is a chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society and is located in the beautiful Treasure Valley of southern Idaho. Led by Director Rich Lapp, we have members who reside all over the valley.

Barbershop harmony is a style of unaccompanied singing with three voices harmonizing to the melody. The lead usually sings the melody, with the tenor harmonizing above the lead. The bass sings the lowest harmonizing notes and the baritone provides in-between notes, either above or below the lead to make chords that give barbershop its distinctive, “full” sound.

The Boise Chordsmen are members of the Barbershop Harmony Society and are Division V champions in the Evergreen District. In October of 2019, the Chordsmen became the Evergreen District Chorus Champions, for the first time. With the championship, the Chordsmen have been invited to sing at the International Chorus Contest in July of 2020.

Another first for the Chordsmen was the quartet, Rag Tag, becoming the Evergreen District Quartet Champions.

We are dedicated to the promotion and development of Barbershop singing by entertaining people of all ages throughout the community.
